VIDEO: Tax Regressivity, Moving Minnesota Backward

Since 2000, Minnesota has moved aggressively toward a more regressive tax system, making a bad economy even worse for the state’s low- and middle-income families. Minnesota’s lowest 80 percent of homeowners and renters have been hit especially hard because of increased reliance on regressive property taxes over progressive income taxes. We featured one retiree, who paid off his house, but can’t afford to pay his property taxes on a fixed income.
