Video: The Ford Plant Explorers

December 13, 2012 By Tom Niemisto, Video Production Specialist

In higher ed pedagogy, there's more emphasis these days on getting students out of the classroom, away form the isolation of a campus, and into the community to explore concepts covered in class. A recent Macalester College course on Urban Ecology challenged student to produce short group video documentaries exploring the dynamics of the environment and city.

This video features a group that profiled the closed Ford Assembly Plant in St. Paul, which has a changing relationship in the community and the city.

Check out our coverage of last semester's piece on the Bruce Vento Nature area. Photo credi: Michael Hicks, creative commons. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to Macalester instructor Katie Pratt, Ph.D. for collaborating with MN2020 on this project.
