VIDEO: Preserving Main Streets
Restoring and preserving historical buildings across the state is a proven route to economic development. The benefit of restoring, versus constructing anew, puts more resources into labor and job creation instead of costly materials, and is a boost to local tourism.
The Preservation Alliance of Minnesota (PAM) works with outreach efforts to educate communties about the potential in historic downtowns. PAM also hopes to help shape policy to extend the historic structures tax credit past 2015 so projects can continue into the future.
