The great recession showed us that homelessness in Minnesota is both a moral issue and an economic issue. Subsidized transitional housing is a short term fix that helps people struggling with housing get back on their feet. But more needs to be done to bring down the cost of housing.
Kenza Hadj-Moussa of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless points to a new study that suggests homelessness is on the rise (up 6% since 2009), skewing younger (46% under 21), and that now is the time to address this through smart public policy.
