Eva Pickeral knows first-hand how much raising minimum wage would boost working-class families and their communities. She is a recent transplant in search of a second chance who used to work paycheck-to-paycheck in minimum wage jobs before decided to go back to school. She's studying for an alcohol and drug counseling certification to help empower people in recovery. While she's working hard, Eva realizes without support programs like an affordable community college system, public health services, and legislators fighting for economic fairness her journey to the middle class would be much longer and rockier.
